Navigating Your Way to Coliving Conference 2026

London offers excellent transportation links, making your journey to the conference and around the city straightforward. Here's how to get here and reach your first event destination:

Arriving by Airplane:

Heathrow Airport (LHR)

Heathrow is London's largest international airport and is well connected to the city.

• Elizabeth Line: The fastest and most convenient option for many travellers, offering direct services from Heathrow into central and East London.
• London Underground (Piccadilly Line): A more affordable option with direct connections into central London and interchanges to the Overground and other Underground lines.
• Taxi / Ride-Sharing: Black cabs, Uber and Bolt are readily available outside all terminals. Depending on traffic, the journey to Hoxton Docks typically takes between 60 - 90 minutes.

Gatwick Airport (LGW)

• Gatwick Express: Direct trains run to London Victoria Station, where you can connect to the Underground or Overground network.
• Thameslink & Southern Rail: Regular services connect Gatwick with several central London stations, including London Bridge, Blackfriars and Farringdon, making onward travel straightforward.
• Taxi / Ride-Sharing: Available outside both terminals, though considerably more expensive than rail.

London City Airport (LCY)

Located closest to the conference venue, London City Airport is an excellent option for European travellers.

Arriving by Train:

London Luton Airport (LTN)

• Luton Airport Express: This service connects the airport to central London via Luton Airport Parkway, with trains reaching London St Pancras International in around 30 minutes. From St Pancras, you can continue your journey by Underground, Overground or taxi.
• Taxi / Ride-Sharing: Available outside the terminal, although public transport is usually the quicker and more cost-effective option.

London Stansted Airport (STN)

• Stansted Express: Direct trains connect the airport with London Liverpool Street Station in approximately 50 minutes. From Liverpool Street, Hoxton Docks is easily accessible by public transport or taxi.
• Taxi / Ride-Sharing: Available outside the terminal, though train travel is generally the recommended option.

Your First Event Touchpoint:

London is served by several major railway stations, including King's Cross St Pancras, Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Waterloo, and Paddington.

From any of these stations, you can easily continue your journey using the London Underground, London Overground, buses, or taxis. Hoxton Docks is particularly well connected from Liverpool Street and King's Cross.

Your first point of arrival for the conference will vary depending on your ticket type:

• The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) connects the airport directly with the wider London transport network, making it possible to reach Hoxton Docks in around 30 - 40 minutes.
• Taxi/Ride-Sharing: Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available outside both terminals and offer a direct, though slightly more expensive, option to your accommodation or the conference venues.

If you are a 2 Day Attendee (October 14th & 15th): 

Your first destination will be the address of the site tour you have selected for your first time slot on Wednesday, October 14th.

If you are a 1,5 Day Attendee (Evening October 14th & October 15th): 

Your first destination will be Hoxton Docks, where we’ll be hosting the Coliving Awards Ceremony on the evening of Wednesday, October 14th.

Please make sure to leave with enough time and arrive earlier, as punctuality is very important.

Here’s how to reach Hoxton Docks:

• From London Heathrow Airport (LHR) directly:
  • Elizabeth Line + Overground:
    Take the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow towards central London and change at Whitechapel for the London Overground towards Haggerston. From Haggerston Station, Hoxton Docks is a short walk away.
  • Taxi / Ride-Sharing:
    A direct journey takes approximately 90 minutes depending on traffic.
• From London Gatwick Airport (LGW)
  • Train + Overground:
    Take a Thameslink service from Gatwick Airport to London Bridge, then continue by Bus 149 towards St Leonards Hospital (Stop KC).
  • Taxi / Ride-Sharing:
    A direct journey typically takes around 90 minutes depending on traffic.
• From London City Airport (LCY)
  • DLR + Overground:
    Take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Shadwell and connect towards the Overground network, travelling to Haggerston Station.
  • Taxi / Ride-Sharing:
    As the closest airport to Hoxton Docks, a taxi journey is typically around 30 minutes depending on traffic.
• From London Luton Airport (LTN)
  • Train + Overground:
    Take the Luton Airport Express to Farringdon, then take Bus 243 from St John Street (Stop J) towards St Leonards Hospital (Stop KC).
  • Taxi / Ride-Sharing:
    A direct journey typically takes around 90 minutes depending on traffic.
• From London Stansted Airport (STN)
  • Take the National Express towards London Dalston, putting you a short walk away from the venue.
  • Taxi / Ride-Sharing:
    A direct journey typically takes around 60 minutes depending on traffic.

• From within London (if you've already arrived in the city):

    The nearest station is Haggerston Overground Station, which is a 10 minute walk from the venue.
  • By Bus:
    Several London bus routes serve the surrounding area, providing convenient connections from across East London and central London.
  • By Taxi / Ride-Sharing:
    Black cabs, Uber and Bolt are readily available throughout London. Journey times will vary depending on traffic and your starting location, so we recommend allowing extra time during peak hours.

Getting Around London by Public Transport

London has one of the world's most comprehensive public transport networks, making it easy to travel between your accommodation, the conference venue, and the city's many attractions.

The London transport network includes the Underground ("Tube"), London Overground, the Elizabeth Line, buses, Docklands Light Railway (DLR), National Rail services, and the Thames Clippers river bus network.

• Paying for Public Transport: The easiest way to travel is by using a contactless bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Simply tap in and out at station barriers and on buses using the same card or device throughout your journey. Daily and weekly fare caps mean you'll automatically pay the lowest applicable fare for the journeys you make. If you prefer, you can also purchase an Oyster Card at airports, Underground stations and convenience stores across the city.London's Iconic ‍
• Red Buses: London's famous red buses are an affordable and scenic way to get around the city. They operate an extensive network, including 24-hour routes, and offer a great opportunity to see London's landmarks while travelling between destinations. • River Bus Services: For a different perspective of the city, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers operates regular river bus services along the River Thames. The boats connect key locations including Battersea Power Station, Westminster, Embankment, London Bridge, Canary Wharf and Greenwich, offering both a practical and scenic way to travel.

‍Additional Ways to Get Around London

• Taxi & Ride-Sharing: London's iconic black cabs can be hailed on the street or found at designated taxi ranks throughout the city. Ride-sharing services including Uber, Bolt, and FREENOW also operate across London and provide a convenient option for travelling directly to the venue or between conference events.
• Cycling: With an extensive network of dedicated Cycleways connecting many parts of the city, including East London and the area around Hoxton Docks, cycling is a popular and convenient way to explore London. In addition to Santander Cycles, London's public bike hire scheme, you’ll also find Lime and Forest e-bikes widely available throughout the city. These app-based shared bikes can be unlocked and parked within designated areas, making them a flexible option for short journeys between your accommodation, the conference venue and nearby attractions.

• Walking: Many of London's neighbourhoods are highly walkable, and exploring on foot is often the best way to discover its parks, markets, historic streets and local cafés. Depending on where you're staying, walking may be quicker than taking public transport for shorter journeys.

London is a welcoming and generally very safe city. As with any major international destination, we recommend staying aware of your surroundings, particularly on busy public transport, around major stations, and in crowded tourist areas.

Keep your belongings close, avoid leaving bags unattended, and be mindful of pickpockets in busy locations. Taking these simple precautions will help ensure you have an enjoyable and stress-free visit.
