Navigating Your Way to Coliving Conference 2025

Barcelona offers excellent transportation links, making your journey to the conference and around the city straightforward. Here's how to get here and reach your first event destination:

Arriving by Airplane (Barcelona-El Prat Airport - BCN):

Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) is well-connected to the city center.

  • Aerobus: The Aerobus is a fast and convenient express bus service operating 24/7 between Barcelona-El Prat Airport (Terminals 1 & 2) and central Barcelona (Plaça de Catalunya). The main venue, The 19th Hole, is conveniently located near the Plaça de Catalunya drop-off point. You can easily purchase your tickets right at the Aerobus stop, and the stops are well-indicated with signage as you exit the airport terminals.
    • Travel Tip: Remember to check which terminal (T1 or T2) your return flight departs from, as the Aerobus route will serve that specific terminal. While generally efficient, please allow ample time for potential traffic, especially during peak hours.
  • Taxi/Ride-Sharing: Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available outside both terminals and offer a direct, though slightly more expensive, option to your accommodation or the conference venues.

Arriving by Train (RENFE / AVE):

Barcelona's main train station, Barcelona Sants, serves both RENFE and AVE high-speed trains, offering excellent national and international connections. From Barcelona Sants, you can easily reach Plaça de Catalunya and the surrounding areas where our main conference venue, The 19th Hole, is located, via metro and bus.

Your First Event Touchpoint:

Your first point of arrival for the conference will vary depending on your ticket type:

If you are a 2-Day Attendee (October 15th & 16th):

Your first destination will be the address of the site tour you have selected for your first time slot on Wednesday, October 15th. Specific transport information for each Site Tour route will be provided soon, along with tips on how to easily move between locations at your own convenience and according to your selected schedule.

If you are a 1,5-Day Attendee (Evening October 15th & October 16th):

Your first destination will be the venue where we are hosting the Coliving Awards Ceremony on the evening of Wednesday, October 15th. The exact address will be announced soon, along with specific transport guidance.

If you are a 1-Day Attendee (October 16th only):

Your first destination is The 19th Hole, Pl. d'Urquinaona, 6, floor 19-20, 08010 Barcelona, Spain on Thursday, October 16th.

Here’s how to reach The 19th Hole:

  • From Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) directly:
    • Aerobus: Take the Aerobus to Plaça de Catalunya (the final stop). From there, The 19th Hole is a short 5-minute walk.
    • Taxi / Ride-Sharing: A direct ride will take approximately 25-35 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • From within Barcelona (if you've already arrived in the city):
    • Metro: The 19th Hole is easily accessible by metro. Nearest stations include:
      • Urquinaona (L1 - Red Line, L4 - Yellow Line) - just a 1-minute walk.
      • Plaça de Catalunya (L1 - Red Line, L3 - Green Line, L6 - Purple Line, L7 - Brown Line) - approximately a 5-minute walk.
    • Bus: Numerous bus lines stop within a very short walking distance of the venue. Use a mapping app for the best route from your specific location.
  • By Car:
    • Parking on the street in the city centre is about as scarce as finding an empty spot on a Barcelona beach in the high summer season! We highly recommend using nearby underground parking facilities.
    • Recommended Parking: Parking Saba Bamsa (numerous locations nearby, including Saba Bamsa Plaça Urquinaona). These facilities offer hourly, daily or multi-day rates. You can pre-book online for convenience or directly at the parking location.

Getting Around Barcelona

Barcelona boasts an extensive, efficient, and reliable public transport network (metro, bus, tram) operated by TMB.

  • Public Transport Tickets: You can purchase single tickets, multi-day passes (e.g., T-Casual for 10 journeys), or use contactless payment options directly at metro stations and on buses. Metro ticket machines typically accept major credit and debit cards. While direct contactless payment with your phone or bank card is increasingly available at turnstiles for single journeys, for purchasing multi-journey passes like the T-Casual, it's generally best and most reliable to use a physical credit or debit card at the machines.
  • Walking: Walking is an excellent way to explore the city, especially in central areas, allowing you to discover Barcelona's stunning architecture and vibrant atmosphere up close.
  • Travelling by Taxi / Ride-Sharing:
    • Official taxis in Barcelona are easily recognisable by their distinctive yellow and black colours. They are widely available throughout the city and can be hailed on the street, found at designated taxi stands, or booked via apps. Ride-sharing apps such as Uber, Cabify and FreeNow also operate in Barcelona.
    • Importantly, these platforms primarily connect you with official yellow and black taxis, ensuring a consistent and regulated service. Both traditional hailing and app-based booking offer a convenient way to travel directly to your destination.

For detailed metro and bus routes, real-time information, and journey planning, we recommend using Google Maps or local transport apps like TMB App (official Barcelona public transport app). Visit their official website here: www.tmb.cat/en/home.

A Note on Public Safety

While Barcelona's public transport is incredibly convenient and safe overall, like in any major bustling city, it's wise to remain alert and aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas and on public transport. Highly professional pickpockets often operate in these zones, sometimes targeting individuals who appear to be tourists. Always ensure your belongings are secure and keep an eye on them at all times to enjoy your journey worry-free.
