Keynote - Coliving: From Concept to Community‍ ‍

This keynote will explore the coliving journey - from early house-sharing and informal communities, through the first generation of purpose-built coliving, to today’s more sophisticated, professionally operated and increasingly diverse models.

Imogen will examine the opportunities and best practices emerging from this evolution, distilling universal principles that have emerged from the industry’s experience: people first, community by design, quality over quantity, privacy alongside connection, operational excellence, local relevance, measurable impact, and long-term thinking. She will address the intersection between technology and human relationships, innovation and tradition, and investment and community soul, and where the challenges and opportunities lie in the balance between these key ingredients.

Finally, the talk will look ahead to what comes next for Coliving, from the perspective of a nonpartisan and globally-based impact organisation. A call to action will set forth a clear path for developers, operators, investors, designers, policymakers and residents to work together, in order to share data and best practice, raise standards, engage with neighbourhoods, design for more diverse demographics and prove the social and economic value of the model.
